You are a new creation

When you became a Christian, you were born again. A priest called Nicodemus came to see Jesus in secret to ask some questions. Jesus explained to him what it meant to be born again.

Read John 3:1-8

When we were born physically, we were born of the flesh. When you became a Christian you were re-born spiritually! You are a new creation.
The first Bible verse I ever learnt was 2 Cor 5:17 “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old has gone and the new has come.”
You have been given a new start at life! The slate has been wiped clean. Your spirit used to be dead because of sin – the things we think about, say and do that are wrong and cut us off from knowing God personally. Now your spirit has been made alive in Christ. It’s new! In the Old Testament, the prophet Ezekiel talked about our heart of stone being changed into a heart of flesh!

I don’t know about you, but when I prayed the prayer to start following Jesus, I felt brand new, clean. But the next day I woke up my mind was still the same and I kept doing things with my body that I shouldn’t!

Our spirit is a new creation, but our minds need renewing (Rom 12:2) and our bodies need to do what they are told! For now, rejoice that you are a new creation, and that God has made you brand new. Keep following Jesus and your mind will be transformed too!

Pray: Thank you Jesus for making me born again. Thank you that I am a new creation because of you, Amen!
