Are you sitting comfortably?

Becoming a Christian has been likened to a good chair, which needs four stable legs to be safe to sit on. If one or more legs are loose it feels wobbly and not at all safe and secure or relaxing.

The Christian church started on the day of Pentecost, 50 days after Christ rose from the dead. The initial 120 disciples were all filled with the Spirit and made such a noise that a large crowd gathered to hear Peter explain what was going on, in his first sermon.

Read Acts 2:36-41

Peter lands his sermon by telling the gathered crowd that the Jesus they had crucified is actually Lord and Christ – the Messiah they had been waiting for. They are cut to the heart at that news and ask “What shall we do?”

There are four elements to Peter’s answer – the four legs of the chair mentioned earlier. Over the next 4 days we will go into more detail for each leg.
1 Repent v38
2 Believe “in the name of Jesus Christ for your sins” v38
3 Baptism in water – “be baptized” v38 and 41
4 Receive the gift of the Spirit v38

Which of these four legs are firmly in place in your life?

Pray: Thank Jesus for being your Lord and Saviour
